What is the event?The 2023 National Health Research Conference will feature over 100 research papers (oral and poster presentations) on COVID-19 and Emerging Diseases, Chronic Non-Communicable Diseases, Clinical/Laboratory Studies, Mental Health and more. This is an annual conference hosted by an Inter-Institution Planning Committee, comprising the Ministry of Health Trinidad and Tobago; Faculty of Medical Sciences & Caribbean Centre for Health Systems Research and Development, The University of the West Indies; The University of Trinidad and Tobago; The University of the Southern Caribbean; and Regional Health Authorities.

What is the significance of this event?The theme of the 2023 Conference is ‘Healthcare for the Future: Emerging Threats and Sustainable Solutions’, which is especially relevant as we anticipate new/reoccurring diseases following the 2020-2022 pandemic. This Conference enables the dissemination of research evidence on the health priorities of Trinidad and Tobago, as well as the development of evidence-informed policy and programming, aimed at improving the health outcomes of the population.

Who should attend?The Conference is open to individuals with an interest in health research, but is specifically intended for Medical Practitioners, Laboratory Specialists, Regional Health Authority Administrators, Ministry of Health Officials, Health Policymakers, Researchers, and University Staff and Students.

What does this conference hope to accomplish?The objectives of the NHRC are to: 1. share research findings with key stakeholders (care providers, Ministries, RHAs, Academic Institutions, general public, etc.); 2. strengthen the national health research culture; 3. build research capacity and nurture junior researchers; 4. foster collaboration among researchers at different institutions; and 5. share policy relevant messages with the users of research (care providers, policy makers and planners)

What's the cost and how to register?Registration fees are $400 TTD for undergraduate and postgraduate students and $700 TTD for other delegates. What should I do?Your registration is only completed upon payment of the appropriate fees. - If you (or someone else on your behalf) completed payment and received a receipt, we will email your ticket within 1 week. Can I cancel my registration?There will be no refund for any cancellation, including in the event of absence. If a participant is unable to attend the conference, a substitute* may attend at no extra charge on a case-by-case basis. Please provide the Conference Secretariat with full details of a substitute delegate in writing to researchconferencett@gmail.com. *Substitution or transfers cannot be made between different registration types (for example Student registration to Delegate registration).
