The Fifth Annual National Health Research Conference (NHRC) of Trinidad and Tobago (T&T) was held on November 22, 2024. The theme was “Digital Health Transformation: Leveraging Technology for Better Care”. The 2024 NHRC was a collaborative effort by the Ministry of Health; Tobago House of Assembly; Faculty of Medical Sciences and Caribbean Centre for Health Systems Research and Development, The University of the West Indies; University of Trinidad and Tobago; University of the Southern Caribbean; the Regional Health Authorities; and the Trinidad and Tobago National Nursing Association.

Hyatt Regency Hotel
The 2024 NHRC convened at the Hyatt Regency in Port of Spain once again, with over 240 participants (researchers, policymakers, medical students, physicians, nurses and other healthcare professionals, and various other stakeholders).
The day was packed with live research presentation sessions, digital poster presentations, and as always, an environment of knowledge dissemination and professional networking.
FEATURE PRESENTATION
Mr Marcelo D'Agostino
Chief of Information Systems and Digital Health in the Department of Evidence and Intelligence for Action in Health of the Pan American Health Organization (PAHO), Regional Office for the Americas of the World Health Organization, Mr Marcelo D'Agostino delivered a riveting presentation on “The Digital Transformation of the Health Sector in the Americas: Opportunities and Challenges”.

LIFETIME RESEARCH ACHIEVEMENT AWARDEE
Professor Dan Ramdath
Professor Ramdath was honoured with the Research for Health Lifetime Achievement Award. His early research led to the development of F100 therapeutic feed for severely malnutritioned children; he also contributed to a standardized method for measuring the glycemic index of foods.
Professor Ramdath delivered a feature presentation at the 2024 NHRC, "Implementing Dietary Guidelines to Reduce NCDs: Why aren't we there yet?"
